Vin gets a marginal amount of sympathy from me, but not much. He had
physical gifts handed to him and actively chose to waste his talent and
throw away a life that many would kill for.

Folks, all pop psychology and junk science aside, alcoholism is not a
disease. Regardless of what some folks' genetic predispositions might be,
consuming alcohol is an active choice that has to be made, and can always be
avoided, although it may not be easy. You can't just stop going to the
store and buying cancer, but you certainly can stop buying alcohol. If Vin
doesn't have the strength to avoid that drug for an NBA max salary, the
blame belongs squarely on his shoulders. He let everyone down, probably
including himself, and for that, he should be ashamed. I hope he gets it
together, but I'm not going to pretend that I have a great deal of sympathy
just because he can't stop drinking. If this is the best he can do, then I
say good riddance.
