'Making weight killed me, but I'm making no excuses'
For taking mediocre mandatories and once in a while beating a good but
limited fighter (Johnson and others) in the most talent-barren division of boxing.
Oops. I thought it was "20" pounds. Now its "25"? What's this gonna be
tomorrown, "30"? lol.
Many fighters struggle to make weight, so this is nothing new. Maybe
he now knows how James Toney felt when he had to make 168lbs that one time they fought.
Keep in mind that many Roy Jones fans backed RJJ's poor selection of
mandatories. It is fans like us (the so called RJJ critics or in your
mind "haters") that have pushed RJJ to take more challenging feats.
And for the most part, he is has been praised for doing well under
difficult cir***stances vs. Tarver so I don't understand your remarks.
Typical RJJ fans made the argument that it is pointless for RJJ to
fight someone good because he'll make him look like a nobody, thus
justifying Roy for selling ppvs fighting mediocre mandatories.
I think this fight proved otherwise.
