Default WHEN WE WERE KINGS boxing movie

isn't it funny how the two most important figures--ali and
foreman--weren't interviewed for this movie.

instead we get celebrities just blabbering on and on though Norman
Mailer always has something interesting to say. But, why was spike
lee on board? what did that ugly punk have to do with the ali fight?

I've thought about that as well. My feeling is that interviewing Ali
today just wouldn't fit into the spirit of the movie and for Foreman,
well I guess he'd rather just forget about the whole thing...>>>

Agreed...Ali having a tough time talking would be disheartening to say the
least. Having Forman speak would seem unfair at that point. When we were Kings
is more about their time and the event itself, which seemed to loom bigger than
the men themselves.

Exactly. The flick wasn't about the men and their thoughts, it was
about the event, and what it meant to *other* people. (And in that
context, while I generally loathe Spike Lee and attention whores like
him, their participation is more relevant and useful.)
