God, I hate the Leafs! :-) This was sweet, especially with the Leaf-
biased refereeing and all.
Did you guys notice the difference between the two teams in this
game? Belfour made 5 or so "big" saves, while McLennan had
none, gave up a weak tying goal, and tried to give up another one
to Nolan. But this is nothing new - the curse of the Flames for two
decades now is that opposition goaltending has been consistently
better than ours.
Does Kobasew still play for the Flames? Time for Lowell methinks.
Back to goaltending; as long as we are whining for the ownership
to spend money, why not whine for CuJo? I have no doubt CuJo
takes this team to the playoffs - the Flames are giving up few shots
and few chances, but the goaltending is weak - imagine what a
real goalie would do.
Here is my proposal - Turek/Kobasew for CuJo/pick. Don't
dismiss it right away - listen to my logic. Detroit obviously doesn't
want Turek, but that's equivalent to them eating half of CuJo's
salary, and Kobasew is the real compensation. CuJo commands
sympathy in the Red Wing room, which causes major tension
behind the scene no doubt. Turek wouldn't - nobody would give
a shit if he sat or was sent to the minors, and Turek provides some
insurance if Hasek gets hurt. Last hurdle - would CuJo agree to
come here? At this point, probably.
Anyhow, something else to talk about. :-)

I wouldn't give up a prospect lke Kobasew for a high priced Goalie who
is still good and probably very effective, but his best years are behind
him.

You're right, I didn't notice Kobasew much tonite. I guess that is good
and bad. Bad because he wasn't making a difference, but good becuase I
don't remember him making any potentially dangerous mistakes.

Cujo would never come here.....and that gawd for that.
Don't ever dress that bum (and he's nothing more than that) in a Flames
jersey. I'd rather loose with J-Mac than win with that bum.

Well, on the other side, if CuJo is here,
we won't ever be painfully watching how he single-handedly shut down the Flames again..

"The Impaler"

Don't think Belfour was particularly sharp in that game.
But he did make a few great saves despite being a bit shaky..

Really can see Detroit adding another goalie if they indeed can somehow dump CuJo.
Manny Lagace has proven to be an excellent backup.
But can't say I don't like the idea of replacing Turek with Joseph.
I don't like Joseph, but he is much more consistent than Turek.

The flames have been playing great lately. With better goaltending this
would have been two shut-outs in a row. The Flames are playing excellent
defense.

And I will be the first to say Leopold had a great game, but notice Regehr
was singled out as the top defense man on the ice.

I think it is because they wore down the leafs and took the game to the
skaters, but they didn't challenge Belfour as much. Basically they out
worked the leafs but didn't go for all out offense.

The record he has against us is a result of him playing for Western teams.
When he was with the leafs, we had his number. Send him to Boston or
Philly, or better yet....Grand Rapids.
