Did Giuseppe Verdi insist that only Egyptian sopranos portray Aida?

Did Mozart insist that only Italian (or even European) baritones sing
Figaro?

Wouldn't they have been labelled racist for doing so?

I'm sure that's news to them... and their millions of patrons.
