Default Great Game

For nine games the Hawks were one of the worst teams in the
league, but they sure looked good tonight. It was a great win
against the best team in the league. Good defense, great
goal-tending and the scoring all came from the fourth line.
Hopefully the Hawks will keep climbing in the standings to at
least get home ice in the first round of the playoffs. For a
while there, I didn't think they'd even make the playoffs.

Go figure.
Hockey is strange.
Keep the line moving.

And as it just figures, the Hawks have returned to looking like
something that a dog upchucks. They go out to LA, a team that had
been playing like something that comes out a dog's other end, and
get absolutely man-handled in a 4-0 loss.

This team needs a major shake-up. I've been suggesting that Kane
be the guy to go, but maybe someone else would do as well. Maybe
Duncan Keith? When are the Bowman's going to do something?

I agree *something* needs to be done.
The trade deadline is tomorrow.
Crawford *may* be the worst goalie in the NHL. Can not make the big
save. Hell, he can't make the little save. If it wasn't for the Hawk,
Crawford would be selling slurpies at 3 AM in Montreal. 3.25 million
for a bar league goalie.
The only option is to give up prospects for aging players, not much of
an option.
Bring Tallon back, salary cap be damned.

The problem isn't just the goalkeeping. The defense is playing
for shizzle. There are so many times that the Hawks just can't
get the puck out of their own end. But as far as goalies go,
would Huet or Turco be any worse than what they have now?

I am probably wrong as I'm no hockey expert, but I think the
Hawks misidentified the players that were to be the core moving
forward from 2010. Something is missing in some of these guys. I
don't know if it's drive, desire, heart, guts or whatever. They
just don't seem to have enough fight in them. They say all the
right things, but then go out on the ice and look listless. I see
too many guys looping around on the ice rather than making hard
stops and starts. I don't see enough guys taking the body and
making the hard hits.

I'm at the point where maybe instead of trading your young
players for guys over the hill that you trade some of your stars
for prospects because this team as it is playing now isn't a
couple of veterans away from being a contender. There are two
guys who have been a big puzzle this year, Kane and Keith.
