This guy IS the real deal! And actually,TK, they said he was the best
pitcher in COLLEGE baseball history, not just USC. Mark Teixera was
supposed to be the best hitter in college history. They were in the same
draft and expected to go 1-2, but the Twins took a high school catcher
#1, and Prior went #2. Teixera went like 7th or 8th, and he's kicking
ass too.

ball in their system, supposedly a good prospect, but time will tell.

Actually, Mauer has been promoted to the Twins AA team, the New Britain Rock
Cats (huh?), where he has been hitting quite well so far (.357/.408/.524).
He may turn out to be a pretty special player, although I'd still rather
have Prior.

That seemed to be the feeling of most of the "experts" at the time. Mauer
was (is) indeed a great prospect, and the fact that he is a local kid for
the Twins didn't hurt, but I don't think anyone disputed that Prior was the
best player in the draft. If money wasn't an issue he would have gone
#1...but money is an issue.

Mauer is hitting .360 in AA at the moment.

It's truly amazing that you clowns actually think that playing for THE
FABULOUS FLUBBBEEEEEEEEEES is an honor. Hey what could Rafy Palmeiro
possibly want in life other than the great honor of playing in the BEER
GARDEN?

Yeah it's true that if he plays in the BEER GARDEN he can really pad his
stats & probably hit 600 HRs, but maybe he's happy in Texas. Hey, have any
of you clowns actually thought about the fact that some players are happy
where they're at?
Yes I know it's impossible for most of you people to believe that anyone
would want to play baseball for any other team, but believe me, THE BEER
GARDEN isn't the only place that professional baseball players want to play.

Here's a revelation for most of you: There is a life in baseball even if you
don't play for the Chicago NL franchise.
There are other places to play besides the holy Beer Garden.

Some of you need to turn off WGN radio & TV and actually step outside your
homes occassionally.
There is a life for most people besides THE FLUBBBBEEEES!
