The Sox are slumping offensively, without Magglio and without Frank in the
line-up and the Cubbies just barely nudged past the Sox in the last two
games. I think the Sox would have won on Saturday had the game gone 9
innings.

I'm all about being positive today.

The Sox swept the Twins at the Twinkie-dome. Finished with a .500 road
trip.

Diaz looked good, after the first inning.
Buehrle looked great.
Garcia starts tomorrow.
The Sox are in first place.
Hey ho, let's go!

I'm optimistic. I thought the division was a toss-up before the Garcia
trade. With Garcia, I think the Sox should win the division. And with
their hitting and with Buehrle, Garcia and Loaiza at the top of the
rotation, the Sox have a chance to make some post-season noise.

In order to get into the post season & be successful, the Sox are going to
need to hit more consistantly.
The hitting has been very streaky. 7 runs in 4 games isn't going to get the
job done.

True, but having Maggs on the DL and Frank on the bench sure isn't
helping matters in those games...

Speaking of positive thoughts, did anyone notice that Ozzie completely
outmanaged Dusty in the ninth inning of Sunday's game? I know we lost, but
Ozzie did everything right. If you remember, Alou singled. To avoid the
double play groudner, Baker bunts him over with Lee, his hottest hitter.
"Thank you, Dusty," says Ozzie and immediately intentionally walks Barrett
(.286/.337/.483) to face Ramon Martinez (.262/.332/.358). I'll take that
bet any day of the week. Nice move by Ozzie. Unfortunately, Takatsu walks
Martinez to load the bases. But then Dusty again does us a favor by sending
up Todd Walker (hitting just .250 with a .313 OBP vs Lefties this year and
..259/.296 over the last three years vs. lefties). So, Ozzie trumps Dusty
again by bringing in Marte. Another nice move. Unfortunately, Marte gets
cute with the high fastballs, falls behind and then can't locate the curve
or the fastball after the count goes 2-2.

Just to show that you can do everything right, but sometimes the breaks
still won't come your way.
