It's hard to imagine that the Woof gods could be any more angry than
they already are, so why not?

1. How will this week's series with the Indians go?

The White Sox will win two of three

2. Who will win the Central?

The White Sox

3. When will they clinch?

On September 29th.

I just hope that they bring us the old control-type, tightly played -
exciting baseball. The way the fans saw it earlier in the season.

It's very very likely that ChiSox will miss the playoff if CLE
continues to play like they did last night, and BOS/NYY keeps winning.

The "saving" grace is that NY and Boston have to play each other to
close the season. Thus the team that doesn't win the east is likely
to have 2 or 3 more loses. The White Sox are up 4 in the loss column
on both the Red Sox and the Yankees. Add it the 2 or 3 loses and
that's 6 or 7 up in the loss column. This means that if the Yankees
and the Red Sox were to both go without a loss (except against each
other) the White Sox would have to go 7-6 to end up in a tie for the
wild card (at worst). If the teams finish as follows:

Cleveland goes 1-1 against Chicago, Sweeps the next two series, and
goes 2-1 against the sox in the final homestand they end up 98 and 64.

CHicago goes 1-1 against Cleveland, splits the next two series 2-2 and
goes 1-2 against Cleveland in the final series. They end up 96 and 66.

Boston goes 2 and 0 against TB, 2-1 against Baltimore, 3-1 against
Toronto and 1-2 against NY. That's 95-67.

NY does 2-1, 3-0, 3-1 and 2-1. That's 96 and 66. That leaves Boston
out. Boston wins one more (not against NY) they tie with NY, one game
playoff, winner wins division, loser goes home and WHite Sox get Wild
Card.

I think the series against MIN will be the key.

If Boston, NY, and Chicago all end up with the same record, and BOS/NY play
a one-game playoff, the loser would then play Chicago for the wild card.
The first one-game playoff no longer counts against the team when compared
to another wild card contender. This used to be the case, but they changed
it after the NL Central issue a few years ago.

Even if Chicago loses the division to Cleveland, it seems to me they are
very likely to win the wild card.
