Steelers
I was hoping the Browns would beat Pitt but it wasn't to be. If nothing
else that game showed there are more fun things to do on a Sunday
afternoon than running against the Pitt 3-4. Two years ago we had to
throw in order to beat them in OT. That game exposed weaknesses in
their secondary that still haven't been fixed. Teams that have success
against the Steelers D throw the ball. Hmmm. Gee I wonder what we should
do Sunday? I know! Lets run it! That'll confuse'em. Maybe we should
think about that one. Ok I thought about it. Pass the damn ball down the
field against their corners. Probably too simple for Bratkowski. He
will start off with 2 runs and on 3 and 7 come up short as they blitz
everything including the Ketchup Bottle.
What do I expect them to do? Run Bettis right at us. Our undersized line
has trouble with that up the middle stuff. Initially we will stop it but
as the game wearies on, we break down. Their WRs always get healthy and
pad their stats on us. We gotta stop that foolishness. Our free safety
has been uhh somewhat confused on certain coverages so I look for
Mularkey to take us deep when Roman has rotation coverage. You can bet
the house they will screen pass about three times. That has always
worked.
So what are the gots to do?
Number 1. Braham has to shoot, stab, electrocute or if that fails BLOCK
Casey Hampton. If that doesn't happen all else like run, pass,
drop-kick, roll over, punt, throw up, will fail.
Number 2. Throw on first down. And second down and third and fourth and
fifth and six.
Number 3. Spread the field so they can't concentrate their LBs.
Number 4. RPG the Bus. Hardy? Kevin Hardy? You listening, man? You damn
well best be for stopping Jerome. DLine? Stay on your feet.
Number 5. Jon Kitna. Front and center. Jon, we do this every week. No
bakery store offense. No Jon, that means no turnovers you dumb ass. No
fumbints. This week you must hit your receivers on the run. Yes, Jon,
that means while they are in motion. I noticed lately you are throwing
behind your receivers. Again. STOP THAT! And remember, the Tight End is
your friend against Pitt.
Coach Lewis? Play to win.
I am riding the Tiger this week.
