Former Atlanta Braves center fielder Otis Nixon was arrested early today
after allegedly pulling a knife on his body guard at a Norcross motel,
police said.
Gwinnett County police responded to a fight call at the Town Place
Suites on Bay Circle around 12:40 a.m., said police Cpl. Dan Huggins.
Huggins said Nixon, 44, had gotten into an argument with his body guard,
Kevin Brown.
"According to Brown and to witnesses, they got into a verbal altercation
and Nixon pulled a knife and threatened Mr. Brown with the knife,"
Huggins said.
He said Nixon told Brown, "I'll cut your heart out." Brown was not
actually cut during the incident, Huggins said.
Nixon was charged with aggravated assault and taken to the Gwinnett
County Jail. He was being held on $3,300 bond at mid-morning, Huggins
said.
