Default Rose admits...

This article appears to have quotes from the book and the ABC interview.
Looks like the cat is out of the bag.

advantage," Rose >wrote. "I never bet more or less based on injuries or
inside information. I never >allowed my wagers to influence my baseball
decisions. So in my mind, I wasn't >corrupt."

Does anyone actually believe this?

think the >powers that be in baseball understand that, 'Hey, maybe the
fans like this guy. Maybe >the fans want, want us to give him a second
chance."'

This presumes that he was unfairly being ostracized, I think. I'm certain
there will be plenty who are still going to make excuses for him and say
that it doesn't matter since he bet on the Reds to win, but I have to
wonder how may defenders he's going to lose after having lied to them for
so long.

I've never gotten involved in the many, many Rose arguments here and
elsewhere over the years, but it never has made sense to me on the most
basic level why a guy would accept a lifetime ban from a sport that was
his ***life***, if he really didn't do it.

I guess now we know why.

Well, I believe he has a problem with gambling that may cloud his judgement / opinion.

If Pete had been forthright about this from the start, yes. However, it
makes him a liar for the past 14 years.

I can see that point to a certain extent (betting to *win*). It's still
wrong. As manager, you'll never convince me that betting on his own team to
win didn't effect the team.

I am willing to f****ve, not to forget.

I am not happy about this. (the Rose thing, not us agreeing on something)

something)

Additionally, I don't see Rose now admitting it if he didn't do it either.
No matter how badly he might want to get into the Hall.

I think I've already seen someone speculate that he really didn't do it,
but is going to say so to be reinstated. I don't see Pete Rose doing that
either.

that would have been me, and it of course it was just a theory, and not one
I am sure I buy into. Even if that theory were true, that would mean he is
lying, and stabbing in the back all the fans who supported him all these
years, just to get into the Hall, that isn't much better. No way out of
this one for Pete.

I didn't realize that. Seriously. I thought it was a screen name I didn't recognize.

Sometimes it's a horse and not a zebra. Ockham's Razor?
