Tribe picks up Belliard's '06 option

I was hoping they would. At least that's one player they won't have to
bargain with this off-season!

I reallyed liked that guy the past few seasons, and I'm glad Ronnie
will be back next season.

Was there any doubt that they would? Come on. The Indians' options were
a) pay a measly $4 million for one of the best-hitting *and*
best-fielding second ba***** in the league; or b) pay $500,000 for
Belliard's buyout and get nothing, leaving you with Brandon Phillips at
second.

You don't have to be a front-office genius to figure that one out.

Not anymore, and I think that's the point. We've seen the front office
do dumber things before. not under Shapiro, but still.

It's funny, a couple years ago it seemed like Belliard was a no-name
signing, almost like Gutierezzzzz, and that he was creating a logjam at 2B
with Phillips. Things change.
