Last night's BoSox-Yanks game! Starting pitchers last night are being
paid about 26 Million this year. Both STUNK! Johnson appears to be in
his last days. Tribe needs to transfer to the East Division.

Well, the Tribe almost was in the A.L.E.D when the latest alignment was
made.
The fact that they landed in the A.L.C.D. helped a bunch in the 1990s.
Should still help today, wrt competing with similarly funded teams, which
find a way to make
it to the Post Season. The CWS and Tigers are doing rather well in markets
similar to the Tribe's.
Sure Chicago is bigger, but the Cubs have a healthy fan base.
Minnesota has done rather well also in recent years.

Quite honestly, as much as I dislike Boston and the NYY, comparing the
successes of Dolan/Shapiro
to Steinbrenner/Cashman and Red Sox ownership/Epstein would not exactly
favor current Tribe management. And I know that the Yankees have tons more
cash to spend than the Tribe, but a factor of that
is that Steinbrenner wants to win, and expects to win every year. Same with
the Red Sox.
Not so with Larry and Mark.

Next year will be better, though.

Absolutely. With a new stadium lease, new naming rights deal, and Year One
down with the regional TV network, Larry should be much better off next
year. It should be fun to see what performance excuses they come up with in
the next 12 months.

Tribe will win more games than either the Bosox or Yanks! I saw a
least 8-9 players that would never make the tribe's roster. Both teams
are loaded with players who are 3-4 years past their best years. Damon
over Sizemore? Get serious! Williams would have been released in Spring
training! Posada over Martinez? Maybe for late inning defense. The Big
unit's era is about the same as our Johnson's. Both teams have bull
pens of rejects from other teams. Some are our rejects. Even Rivera has
been hit hard this year with an ERA over 4.0 Ortiz over Hafner? No
chance! Remember this post in Sept.

Maybe they will and maybe they won't.....I think both those teams will be
around 90 wins.
The Tribe would have to go 77-39 the rest of the way to win 90 games. I just
don't see a team with
their defense, baserunning, and poor pitching doing that. They have a good
#1 starter, and a solid closer.
The rest is suspect, at best. That Crisp trade (think MOTA) has sure worked
well for a team that won 93
games last year, huh..?? Well, maybe the cash part has for someone.....

Career wise ? As of now, yes. Posada is a very good defensive catcher. And a
good hitter.
Pretty respectable post-season performances, also.
Martinez should not even play the #2. His defense there is poor. He is a
very good hitter, true.

You don't really want to compare the two, do you?

Those teams are in the playoffs year after year. Not so the Tribe.

Those players and teams have produced World Series titles. Not so the Tribe.
All the players you mentioned have produced in the clutch, in the Post
Season.
Johnson and Rivera are Hall of Fame pitchers.

I wish it were different, but facts be facts.

Ortiz over Hafner? I'll admit this is close, but Ortiz is much older
and more likely to be going down hill. Hafner still rising!

Maybe. I'm just not a Hafner fan. I think he's a great hitter, and a guy who
can only help the team 4 times per game. It pisses me off to watch a 28 year
old who can't field a position. I know, Ortiz is in the same boat, but he
does play 1B on occasion. That alone makes him better than Hafner.
