You lucky bastards. We seem to get our fill of "Ah Jook Yuh" every time.

At least he's consistently bad.

How did ENG get this bad in such a big hurry? They were looking pretty good
coming to AUS, disgraced themselves for 3.5 Tests, started to look good in
the 5th and would have gone home with some optimism. What's happened in the
meantime, other than the WC failure which shouldn't directly impact on the
Test side since I'm forever being reminded by everybody that they're two
separate games.

"The Wog" <[my org name]@optusnet.com.au> decided to say:

At the moment, England fans are hoping that it's the turmoil over the
captaincy, and that we'll get a better idea of what's going on in the
next two Tests.

Cheers,

Mike

I am not so sure that they have gone bad -- it probably looks worse than it
is. They were *that* bad in Australia during the Ashes because of injuries,
but they did find a top-class bat, and gained confidence after winning the
last test.

Beating the zimbos was not exactly miraculous, but impressive nonetheless,
and it did bring to the world stage some much needed talent.

The current series so far has belonged to Smith, and while it looked bad, I
am quite certain that England will put up a better performance in the next
couple of tests. Their bowling *has* to deliver though.

Maybe Hussain will hold on to Smith at 8 next time :-)

Besides, RSA is still a very strong side. With or without Donald. No
shame in losing to 'em.

I still think that Hussian should have served out this series. It is a lot
of pressure on Vaughan.

Even in the 3.5 tests they put up some decent performances. In T1 and T2 the
batting got into good positions twice (then fell away.....)

The answer is, I dunno ! Despite the figures, RSA aren't that good, we
aren't that bad. Smith is not Bradman II.

Looks to me that the biggest differences are

1) Vaughan is experiencing "second" season blues in international
cricket. (Yes, I realise, but it looks like the same sort of thing,
you know what I mean)

2) Sydney is a crap pitch and thank Gilchrist no one else has to put
up with such a shameful excuse for a test pitch *cough* Cad****er
*cough*.
