I think the Raiders will end up giving him an injury settlement. This isn't
the result of legal action and this is the first time I have heard of this.
Apparently it is what teams do when they cut an injured player. I read
somewhere that he'll get around 225K.

If the incident went down as it is reported (a total cheap shot) and his career
is over I think he should sue Romo. It doesn't matter that this guy has never
caught a pass in a game for the Raiders and his only hope to make the team was
a special teams spot.

The only quotes I have seen printed are coming from Romo:

"I hold myself accountable," Romanowski said of his latest episode of bad
behavior. "It was a classless move by me."

That should have read..."It was just one of the many classless moves by me that
have tainted my career. If I had only been a Raider all my life, none of this
would have happened."

Yeah, it's pretty common. The collective bargaining agreement says
that a team can't cut an injured player without his permission. So
basically the injury settlement is the team buying the player's
permission. The number you cite sounds pretty high for an injury
settlement, though. Maybe the Raiders are worried about their legal
exposure and are paying him extra to agree not to sue them.

A masterful sense of irony you've got there, tRoaR.

it. That's the way I want to feel, where they say, 'Well, we know he's
going to be there.' I don't have to have the attention. I don't need
it. I need us to win games, somehow, some way. It don't matter what
fashion."
