Default Kobe's "Idol" girl

July 10, 2003 -- Kobe Bryant's alleged ***-assault victim is an
aspiring chanteuse who drove a thousand miles for a shot at stardom on
Fox's blockbuster "American Idol," a friend told The Post yesterday.

Despite being cut from the hit reality show, the alleged victim's a
talented pianist and songwriter who hopes to become a music teacher
when she graduates college, friends said.

"She's a really talented girl," said Joanie Ewing, the co-ed's
neighbor in Eagle, Colo., a hamlet of about 2,000 people.

Meanwhile, as the ****'s friends discussed her life and aspirations,
new details emerged about the alleged June 30 attack in Bryant's
Colorado hotel room.

Sources familiar with the incident said the 19-year-old blond college
student had delivered room service to the NBA star's room and was away
from the lobby desk for an unusually long time before returning in
hysterics - claiming to have been assaulted.

The next morning, the Lakers superstar left the hotel unexpectedly,
despite having a spa appointment, the source added.

The alleged victim had worked at the Lodge & Spa at Cordillera in
Edwards, Colo., for only two months.

When a caller requested room service for Bryant, sources said, the
**** told the caller room service had ended at 10 p.m. But then, a
source said, she "decided to go up to his room" anyway.

The University of Northern Colorado student returned 20 to 30 minutes
later, shaking and "in tears," the source said.

The alleged attack came after the young woman suffered another trauma
- the loss of her best friend in a car wreck a month ago. Despite her
heartache, she delivered the eulogy.

"That's why I don't think she would make this up - I don't think she
would want to go through all of this," her friend, Joanie Ewing, said.

Ewing said she initially thought the reported attack was a
fabrication, "but now that I know who it is, that changed my whole
perspective."

So, what do the rest of you think the chances are this girl went up to
his room, did or didn't get what she wanted, then cried "****" as a way
to cover up why she really took so long to return?

Uh huh...so she voluntarily went up there at an odd hour. I think her
story wreaks of bullshit.

Nice acting job? Again, this could have been a ploy to make herself look
so innocent to her manager or other employees. I've learned enough about
women myself to know that NO woman is really that innocent. Those who
claim to be are especially suspect if you ask me. Even a woman with the
most golden personality has a dark side. They're all capable of doing
some conniving and dubious things.

Which makes Ewing a not-so-credible witness. The fact she has a personal,
emotional connection to the alleged victim means that her opinion should
especially be disregarded on the grounds she's using confirmation bias to
support her hypothesis.

Could you make yourself sound more moronic? Seriously, you know
*nothing* that went on there. You are simply making assumptions based
upon the limited reports you read in the paper. Instead of labelling
the victim, why don't we wait until more facts arise.

Case in point, the fact that she voluntarily delivered room service
after hours. Maybe she just wanted to go out of the way to please a
customer...nothing unusual about that at a high-priced resort. Maybe
she did so to meet Kobe. However, it is quite a stretch to say that she
agreed to do so simply to initiate ***ual blackmail.

Now, I'm not saying that she didn't engage in deceit. I'm just saying
that we don't know enough to make conclusions.

I do not know what this adds to this story. I am sure their are
perfectly honest people that go on American Idol just because they are
very talented. Of course, their are those that go on the show to become
famous. It does seem to indicate that she had some aspirations of
making it with her practice. I have never actually known somebody that
tried to go on the show, so I would not know what motivates people to do
this.

The fact that she tried out for American Idol probably doesn't mean a thing.

But if it does, it's not a point in her favor...it would simply be an
indication that she's very interested in being famous and this is another
way to gain notoriety. My wife noted that she (my wife) is a good singer
and loves attention, but even she wouldn't drive an hour and sleep outside
for a night or two to try out for American Idol. Obviously there are a lot
of people that would, but 1000 miles? You *must* be pretty hungry for fame
to do that. Again, it may not mean anything at all, but as far as
cir***stantial items go this isn't in the plus column for her.
