Don't mind that except Satan is another Comrie, gifted offensivley but
horrible defensivley, as well as only playing well when he feels like
it. Plus the fact he has a large contract doesn't bode well.

Why would you trade for delmore when they were willing to give him to you on
waivers for more or less nothing?

There is no reason for the Sabres to acquire another goalie, even if they
give one up. They have one of the best goaltending prospects in the league
(Ryan Miller), and Noronen/Biron are both NHL quality goalies.

Most likely they'd like to deal a goalie for a roster player/pick.

I think there is little to now hope for dealing Salo. There is a team
option at the end of the year for 4.2 that the Oilers will obviously not
pick up.

Off the top of my head here is a list of the goalies who have been rumored
to be available:

-Khabibullin
-Burke
-Brent Johnson
-Roman Turek
-Biron or Noronen
-Salo
-Kolzig
-Cujo or Hasek

Who are the buyers?

Possibly the:
-Flyers
-Bruins
-Avs (could use an experienced backup )
-Rangers
-???

There are alot better fits for these teams than Salo.

But WHY would Buffalo do this? Sure, they give up Satan's big contract,
but then they take on Salo's for the rest of this year, then either keep
him for next year at $4M (not bloody likely) or lose his rights. Same
with Oates, who's only under contract for one year anyway, and
Isbister's not cheap enough for what he brings to the ice (when healthy)
to make him worth anything.

Delmore is supposedly AWFUL defensively (worse than Poti), although I
kinda wanted the Oilers to get him a year or two ago. Not sure about
that anymore.

Noronen/Biron would be nice for the Oilers to get, but I don't think
this deal addresses the Buffalo situation at all - they're not one of
the high-spending teams looking to make a push for the Cup this year.
They can probably get a team like Detroit, Colorado, etc. to take
Satan's contract off their hands & get some young, cheap, maybe even
*good* players back. Or picks.

He'd more or less be a throw in. Noronen or Biron for Salo would be
good enough for me.
