Default Anybody ever play both pro football and hockey?

I'm just curious, especially if anybody pulled a Bo Jackson and played both
at once. Seems to me (a non-fan) like a defenseman in football would make a
pretty good goon in hockey and vice versa.

Ron Stewart played for Ottawa Rough Riders and New York Rangers.
Bobby Thompson played for B. C. Lions and minor pro Victoria Maple
Leafs (I knew him personally).
John Ferguson played for Montreal Canadiens and Nanaimo Timbermen
lacrosse (until the Canadiens put a stop to it).

There was also Lionel Conacher. He played in the NHL (won 2 Stanley Cups),
CFL football (1 Grey Cup), minor league baseball, soccer, lacrosse, track,
and was an amateur boxing champion. Naturally, he's known as Canada's
"Greatest Athlete", no matter what "Iron" Mike Sharpe says.

The Ron Stewart that played for NYR was different from the Ron
Stewart that played football for Ottawa.

Lionel Conacher and Gerry James are two notables who played in the
NHL and CFL.

cordially, as always,

At once would be hard since the schedules overlap too much.
However Lionel Conacher played at least one season in the CFL,
scoring 15 points for Toronto, in the 1921 Grey Cup (Toronto
won). Note 1921 was one year before the NFL started in 1922. He
moved on to star in NHL (and is in the Hockey Hall of Fame).

You can't rightly call that "the CFL", which wasn't organized until
decades later. The most you can say was that he played on a team that
later became part of the CFL.

Was Lionel related to "Big Train" Jim Conacher?

Lionel was nicknamed the Big Train. Who is Jim Conacher?

Lionel was "Big Train" Conacher. As far as I know, all 7 players
who've had the surname Conacher are related, except for Jim Conacher,
who was definitely not related to Lionel.

I don't think they'd allow the hockey stick on the football field, and
football cleats could mess up the ice. Plus, being onside in one game
could require being offside in the other, if teams are going in
opposite directions.
