I'm wondering who has coached a team in the NFL after having been
inducted into the Hall. Gibbs won't be the first - will he?

IIRC Tom Landry was inducted to the HOF while he was still an active coach.

Nope. Landry was inducted to the HOF in 1990. He was fired by Jerry Jones in
1989.

This is the list of all HOFers and their induction years.

Among the coaches who gained their prominence since the 1980s, only three
of them are in the HOF: Bill Walsh, Gibbs and Marv Levy. There are two
that I expect to join them: Parcells and George Seifert. Jimmy Johnson
and Dan Reeves are borderline cases...

Ditka is a HOFer, but not as a coach...

Parcells -- how could he do this to us? His loyal, lifelong Giants fans!
You wanna' go to the AFC and coach, that's fine. Jets -- big deal. Play
their home games in Giants stadium. But Dallas?! DALLAS! That son of a...
well, he did take us to the top twice. That buys a lot of f****veness.
Parcells is an absolute definite HOF for taking team after team with serious
predictions of being bottom blowers to the playoffs. Seifert -- he didn't
build anything, and his team was predicted to go all the way no matter who
the HC was. As a Giants fan, don't even try the Reeves argument.
Johnson -- sure -- just for dealing with the Jones bull alone.

I would have been a lot more impressed with Seifert as a coach if he could have
turned the Panthers around.

The likelihood of one idiot being correct increases in direct proportion to
the intensity with which others quote a line from a freakin' movie...
