Just looking at the weather map, killer heat in the S.W., Rain here in
Michigan... Ugh. So where do people believe is the best place to live for
the best weather and golf year round? I would also like natural disasters
to be included in the comparison.

Here in S.E. Michigan, our season lasts from around middle of April (which
it can still snow) to maybe mid November. But the really good weather is
end of may through early October, I would say. But it's been raining a lot
lately. But we do seem to have an advantage of nearly no natural
distasters. The occasional tornado pops up, but unless you're in a trailer
park, you seem to be safe. The thunderstorms can pop up in nearly any hot
and muggy summer afternoon.

So out of 10, I would give this area a 5.3 for golfing location. Season
could be much longer, that's for sure.

Of course, if I were to include the amazing public courses that we have, I
may take that up to a 7.5....

I saw a match, maybe the President's match, at a Greg Norman course and the
players looked like that were covered in giant black flies, what is it with

Hah ... find me *one* place on the whole coastal region from the
Victorian border right up to Cape York, that has a lower annual rainfall
than Melbourne and I'll shout you a game of golf at Royal Melbourne.

In CA you have Earthquakes, in Florida you have Hurricanes. Nevada
you have 110 degree heat!

It depends on what you like. If you don't mind killer heat, a desert will be
best (not much rain).

I am quite happy with Colorado - sometimes we have a week where the courses are
unsuitable after a snowfall, but in general we can play all winter. Summers
are manageable, and we don't get a lot of rain.

I must say Alabama ain't bad.

1. Friendly people.
2. Southern Hospitality.
3. Lots of inexpensive courses. Many at less than $30 per round. Some
less than $20.
4. Year round golf.
5. Robert Trent Jones golf trail.
6. Low cost of living.
7. Oh yeah... Pretty women.

Wait a minute... I shouldn't be telling you people all of this. Y'all might
just come down here and stay. We have two kinds of Yankees down here:
"Yankees" and "Damn Yankees"... "Yankees" come down to visit and go back
home. "Damn Yankees" come down to visit and stay. ;-)

Seriously... now that they have opened the new Honda plant we frequently see
these Japanese guys at the local courses and you can tell that they are in
hog heaven. I'm sure some of them were wary about being transferred to
Alabama from Japan until they read about all of the golf down here.
