As I understand it (at least with some) there is some minor
maintenance.
You have to sand it and broom it. That's how you adjust and maintain
the speed. The major drawback to an artificial green is hole
locations. You can't just up and change them any time you get a wild
hair.

But all-in-all, they are the way to go for home practice.
