1. Favre stated in an article that he knows the offense better than anyone
in the building and even teaches coaches about it. Hell, he's been running
it longer.
2. Favre seems frustrated and possibly bored. Seem to remember him stating
(frustrated) in an interview regarding not calling audibles that he "was
just the quarterback". Pack gave him laptop in camp with the plays on it to
try to add excitement. So there might be something to it. The added
challenge might do wonders in prolonging his career in Green Bay.
3. He can't be any worse then Rossley. Would even go so far as to say that
is why Rossley won't let him call audibles. He knows Favre would do a
better job and possibly cost Rossley his job.

And as long as I am Thursday morning Q-backing, why not blitz more on
obvious passing downs? We have one of the best, if not THE best, cornerback
tandems in the league. Not only are they great cover corners, they are
extremely physical in playing bump and run coverage. By slowing the
receivers coming off the line, this allows more time for the blitzer to be
effective in reaching the Q-back before a receiver can get open. It also
takes away the quick slant as the hot read on the blitz. Obviously blitzing
opens you up to the big play, but I believes our corners can handle the one
on one coverage. Bottom line is the front four aren't getting it done and
if Blake has enough time to sit back there and pick apart the defense, God
help us when we face a real Q-back.

I was just thinking about that the other day. I'd agree, but the problem
is getting all the situational substitutes in. Still, I don't see anything
wrong with going to the no-huddle 3-4 times a game.

We can all hope, but this isn't what is going to happen. The Packers will
go 5-11 or something around there because the team
and especially Favre have lost repect of their coach. Once it's lost it
cannot be regained. Favre will likely retire but because of past successes
we'll still have to put up with at least one more season with Sherman in
company in charge.

How so? I haven't read or heard anything that would suggest such a
thing. Just because a team is having some struggles doesn't mean the
coach doesn't have his team's respect.

Perhaps not but Rossley needs to go. He has shown a remarkable
indifference to adapting to the skills of his offense. Sherman does
NOT need to take over play calling, with his GM and HC duties I think
he's already past his saturation level. His drafts have been ordinary
at best and he seems oblivious to the failures of his own staff.

I would agree until this year. Barnett is a real stud. I do believe
he will prove to be the best of him, Henderson and Bailey. Heck of a
call if you ask me. Add to that Ford and Johnson who looked great
until they got hurt and a few other guys and you have a good solid draft.


He can't very well fire Rossley mid-season. I'll give him a chance to
make the move this offseason before casting final judgement in this
aspect. No, he wasn't very good last year either, but given our
record, I think he gave him the benefit of doubt. Hopefully, that
doubt will be erased this year.

Barnett is a pretty good player for a rookie with the potential to be
a blue chip player. Ford and Johnson are both exceedingly raw with a
lot of potential (which is also like Bradford and Schroeder and waddy
and a host of other players come and gone in GB). OTOH, he actually
traded up to get Hillenmeyer - now a Bare and Peterson who may end up
as a classic tweener - too small and weak to play inside and too slow
to play outside. Lee is, to date, a waste. While you can point at his
injury, the simple fact is that he has been an awful underachiever.
I'd be willing to count Harris as a 2nd round pick and a decent one,
he's marginally better than Williams but he's also 29 years old.

I'd give him Ds or worse for his first two drafts and no better than a
C at this point for this seasons draft. In terms of free agency
though, he gets an F. His signing of Hunt is, to date, a waste as
well. I'll believe he can be a decent GM if he can find a way to fix
the mess at DL and finally draft (or trade) for a receiver who can
help us NOW not 3 or 4 years from now.


We'll see, he needs to do whatever he can to get Rossley going now.
Even if he can't fire him before the end of the season he can
certainly put the fear in him.
