I think the salary question has to be very high on the 'reasons why not'
list -- The Packers have about 2.4 million in room and will need about 1.5
of that to cover their rookie signings. While they certainly could maneuver
to create more room, it might not be something that they feel is worth
distracting Brandt from getting the rookies signed.

OTOH it would be nice if they could add one more experienced linebacker,
someone who could rotate in relief of the starters. I know what you are
saying about Hardly, but part of the problem last season was that Paris
Lenon didn't make plays in relief of Nickerson either (otherwise he would
have won the starting job).

So I am still looking for another veteran LB signing near the start of camp.
