:Exactly.

I don't miss it. Boxing on skates, mixed with periods of soccer on ice.

Might miss it a little in the period between the Orange Bowl and the
start of Spring Training and/or Opening Day. We'll see.

Bryan S. Slick <usenet@slick-family.not> laid this on me:

"People think hockey is a sport. It's not. Hockey is 3 activites
taking place at the same time: ice skating, fooling around with a puck, and
beating the shit out of somebody." - George Carlin
(I actually like hockey, but that's still some funny shit)

I enjoy it, too.. but not in the same sense I enjoy baseball, or
football, or any other sport where the players aren't allowed to fight
without serious consequences.

Says the idiot who claims to love the ECHL, which is where enforcers get
their training, yet complains that the NHL should become soccer or figure
skating on ice.

I'd prefer to get hit in the face with a punch than blindsided by LAVAR!!!1.

Tell me when other sports arm their players with weapons. Amazing how the
sports where players are armed with lacrosse sticks or hockey sticks fight.
If there is no outlet for the aggression, you see stickwork, which results
in much more serious injuries. Or you see increased concussions, as you have
seen. Or you see chickenous pussies running away like a French soldier and
getting themselves injured.

I guess you are too stupid to appreciate boxing either, *****.

I didn't say it isn't fun to watch. It is.

That doesn't mean that the schoolyard crappe doesn't damage the game.
It does.

Typical Glapski.. set up a false condition ("If you don't agree with me,
you're stupid.") as some sort of fact and toss in an ad hominem attack
to go with it.

baseball bats

fight.

I thought hockey was a manly game that involved all kinds of legal physical
contact..?

Few things in sports look more retarded than two hockey players slugging
away at each others heads while a ref stands there watching them. It's
embarrassing, the way professional wrestling is embarrassing.

Hockey will always be the poor 4th sister amongst the major US sports as
long as it permits fighting w/o serious consequences.

[note Newsgroups:]

Oh, yeah, fighting in Major League Baseball has gone way down
since the league has gotten ''serious'' about reducing bench-
clearing brawls.

(Or substitute NBA for MLB above.)

Sarcasm aside, if you want to see hockey without fighting, try to
watch some NCAA Division I hockey. Pretty good hockey, no real
fighting, not a whole lot of group get-togethers. (And if you
can do this, come back and apologize for generalizing a whole
sport based on one professional league.)

False condition? You said you don't enjoy any other sport where the players
aren't allowed to fight without serious consequences. That pretty much sums
up boxing. They fight and get rewarded. You said you don't enjoy as much as
you do other sports.

Check out play on the lines sometime. Erik Williams threw a few punches
every play. Guess you don't appreciate football either.
