The agent for Ron Artest said yesterday that he hoped the Indiana Pacers would "find it in their hearts to forgive" Artest and keep him on the team. "Ron feels that he expressed things that were out of frustration," said the agent, Mark Stevens, referring to Artest's trade request, which was first published in The Indianapolis Star. In an interview published yesterday in The Star, Artest said he wanted to stay with the Pacers. Stevens said that he had a telephone conversation yesterday with Donnie Walsh, Indiana's chief executive, who told him that the team was moving forward to try to trade Artest. "It is the holiday season; it is a forgiving time of year," Stevens said. "If the Indiana Pacers can find it in their hearts to forgive him, he would like to stay in Indiana. They have stuck with Ron through rough times. However, by no means did Ron mean the situation to escalate the way it did." |
