In article <U2Fic.1328$FF6.711@newssvr24.news.prodigy.com>,
blueraja@knoc.rspamr.com says... Here's the thing. It's *designed* to be a popularity contest. Complaining that the All-Star Game doesn't properly reward performance in that season is akin to complaining that Survivor doesn't accurately portray what it is like to be stranded on a desert island. MLB's not "suprised" at certain players getting in, it's by design. I'm happier that way. Players that have truly special 3 month runs like Loaiza last year get in anyway yet we avoid most of the stone-cold flukes. Is anyone here *really* unhappy that we're going to be saved from seeing that oh-so-exciting moment when Henry Blanco faces off against Jose Mesa? -- Dan Szymborski dan@baseballprimerREMOVE.com "A critic who refuses to attack what is bad is not a whole-hearted supporter of what is good." -Robert Schumann |
