Heavy rains forced a postponement to Saturday’s game between the Royals and
Angels and set up a double-header between the two teams for 1:05 this
afternoon at Kauffman Stadium.

With rain also in the forecast for today, plans are already in place to play
one or both games on Sept. 29 — the day after the regular season is scheduled
to end and one day before the playoffs are scheduled to begin.

“We’ve talked to the commissioner’s office,” Royals president Dan Glass said,
“and they’re saying it would be on the 29th.”

The games would only be played Sept. 29 if they have a bearing on the playoff
races but could force baseball to adjust its postseason schedule if the
American League Central race requires a playoff game to determine a division
champion.
