Default Rotoworld's take on the latest Dodger trades

From Rotoworld.com-

"Mariners acquired 2B-OF Jolbert Cabrera from the Dodgers for RHP Aaron
Looper and LHP Ryan Ketchner.
Well, if any team can afford to give up two decent pitching prospects for a
utilityman, it is the Mariners. Cabrera is an offensive upgrade over Willie
Bloomquist and Ramon Santiago, and unlike Hiram Bocachica, he is an option
at shortstop and third base. Expect Cabrera to be the primary third baseman
until Scott Spiezio returns. He'll be worth a buck or two in AL-only
leagues."

"Dodgers acquired RHP Aaron Looper and LHP Ryan Ketchner from the Mariners
for 2B-OF Jolbert Cabrera.
Maybe Antonio Perez won't head to the minors after all. More likely is that
Joe Thurston replaces Cabrera on the roster and Jose Hernandez becomes the
second baseman against left-handers. This is the first move Dodgers GM Paul
DePodesta has made that could hurt the team for this year, but considering
that Cabrera was overpaid for a utilityman, we have no problem with it.
Looper is a quality reliever who will be ready to contribute as soon as the
Dodgers need him. Ketchner's further away, but he's an intriguing prospect.
The 21-year-old, who was born partially deaf, had a 3.45 ERA and a 159/33
K/BB ratio at Single-A Inland Empire last season. Batters hit .228 against
him."

"Dodgers acquired second baseman-shortstop Antonio Perez from the Devil Rays
for infielder-outfielder Jason Romano.
This looks like Paul DePodesta's best move yet. Perez showed last year that
he still has to be taken seriously as a potential regular, probably at
second base. The Dodgers will send him to Triple-A for now, and since they
still have Joe Thurston, they may use him at shortstop initially. There's a
real chance that Perez will be the Dodgers' regular at second before the end
of the season. For the short term, this means that the Dodgers will have
room on their bench for Jose Hernandez."

"Devil Rays acquired infielder-outfielder Jason Romano from the Dodgers in
exchange for shortstop Antonio Perez.
Bad trade. Romano was a decent prospect at one time, but he currently looks
like nothing more than a 25th man. Just maybe he'll become terry Shumpert.
The Rays will put Romano right on their roster since he's out of options.
Expect Charles Gipson to be designated for assignment. Since the Rays have
quality bench players ahead of Romano, there's little chance that he'll have
any fantasy value."

<trades snipped>
Remember those bucolic days that seem so long ago (ie, beginning of
the week) when it looked like the Dodgers would never make a move?

Since then 4 trades and Grabowski purchased from Oakland.

And I wouldn't be surprised if another move came soon.

After watching Koyie Hill's terrible defense the last two nights, I wouldn't
cry if he went bye-bye. I hope they stay away from Milton Bradly. If they do
make anymore moves they will obviously be small scale at this point. Not too
many teams looking to shake up their rosters one day ahead of opening day.

milton isn't dodgers material. he got a "D" in citizenship in cleveland, and he isn't
fluent enough in "baseball cliches 301".

The Indians sent Bradley to the minors, which makes me wonder if they
really
intend to trade him; this looks to me like a "hustle or rot in the
minors"
message is being sent to shake Bradley up.

Or, the Indians could just be buying time so they can get a good deal. Rich

They seem pretty adamant about it. If they kept him on the roster,
and sent somebody down instead, they wouldn't be able to promote
whomever they want on their roster for at least 10 (?) days.

Small scale? As opposed to the blockbuster deals so far? :-)

I'm kind of hoping some of these new acqusitions were gotten at the request
of some other team who wants to trade us something immediately valuable.

They wouldn't trade Cody Ross! Cody McKay and Cod Ransom are both on the
bubble for making their team's rosters, but all 3 should see ML action
this year. That would be an all-time historical record.
