Union Says It'll Fight Stoudamire Fine
Under the collective bargaining agreement, if a player is convicted of, or
pleads guilty or no contest to marijuana possession, he's required to enter
the league's anti-drug program. A second offense carries a $15,000 fine and
re-entry into the program. Subsequent violations carry a five-game
suspension.
"Those penalties were agreed to after very intensive, very thorough
negotiations," Wasserman said. "You simply can't put that aside and go
completely beyond the parameters of the agreement."
