they'll EASILY be a .500plus team this season. they're no "lock" for the
playoffs though, there are enough good teams in the AL to make it a point of
worry... red sox could easily take the division (orioles are a dark horse)
and of course A's and angels could vie for the WC ahead of them. even the
twins and apparently white sox could possibly contend for WC over the yanks,
mainly because of SOS differences... the AL east is a tougher division. i
wouldn't want 19 games of red sox and 18 of orioles...

It's a lark for now, but they're still going to get into the playoffs
and will probably be the favorites (though Boston is looking good).

Me too. I hope it lasts, but I doubt it. On the other hand, the Yankees have
got to be the oldest team in baseball. Most of their guys are playing on their
downside. Who's under 30? A-Rod, Vasquez and ?? Their defense is lousy. I would
love it if they missed the playoffs.
