says the 1-1 tie with the Devils was "one of the 10 most boring games
I've ever played in"

I'm sorry, joe, that you didn't register a single shot in the game. I
guess the only thing to do is take a shot at the devils off of the ice.

What's wrong with the guy being honest? I enjoyed the game; maybe he didn't.

You see, this is the problem with being an athlete today - people complain
when they give stock answers that aren't interesting, but as soon as they
say something interesting, people complain.

Yes, folks, it's the New Jersey Devils newsgroup, where Devils fans (and
others) get together to chat, talk about hockey, and aren't allowed to say
anything about opposing teams players. Especially the Avs!

Give it a ****in rest already, Doug...

Roger, calm down. I just didn't think Sakic's comments were classless.
You apparently disagree, but felt like making a sarcastic remark instead.

If I disagree with a post in a newsgroup, I don't look and see which newsgroup
I'm reading. Posts aren't "more correct" or "less correct" depending on
where they're posted.

I also made a valid point about how athletes are treated by the media and
fans. I guess that this isn't the place for valid points. My apologies.

LOL... I think you and Joey ought to get a room where you determine what is "classless."

Beauty is we bored Sakic into mediocrity. He played worse than a
regular forward and didn't do shit.

I love the "boring hockey" comments coming from the opponents.
Obviously they haven't figured out to beat the Devs at their own game.

In article <norrisdt.1070405890@rintintin.colorado.edu>,
norrisdt@rintintin.colorado.edu says...

Well why didn't you think Sakic's comments were classless? because they
were "honest"? I'm not complaining because Joe Sakic said "something
interesting", I'm complaning because he said something unfair and
damaging to a Devil's organization which already has an unfair
reputation of playing boring hockey. Just because Sakic had a bad game
doesn't make it right for him to pronounce the contest itself bad. It
wasn't boring at all. Nhl@theRink posts a video of the best play of the
night, and Sunday it was from overtime in the Devils game (there were 5
other games that night).
I don't think you have a valid point about how athletes are treated by
the media and fans. I think you're defending Joe Sakic just because he
said something that isn't stock. Your post would be "more correct" in the Avalanche newsgroup.

I fail to see how being called boring is damaging to the organization.

Look at what he said and what he tells you about himself. The Devils
lulled him into a horrible night and he still can't figure out a way
to win. That's why he dwells on what the game felt like.

I think it's great to hear what the players have to say. Sometimes
the dumb comments are even better. I like the Great One's "Mickey
Mouse Organization" comment. I like the story about pissing his pants
due to exhaustion.

Imagine if we didn't hear Holik's comments about the Rag$. It would
****.

Gee, Joe Sukit, shouldn't it always boring to not win?

You won't get an argument from me; I love watching good defensive hockey.
Remember that I'm a goaltender; we tend to appreciate those sorts of things.

I don't necessarily think it was an unfair comment. If he was bored, he
was bored. When Brett Hull says that he wouldn't pay to watch an NHL
game today, is he being unfair to the NHL? Or is he being honest?

I think it is valid. We want our athletes to be interesting, but when
(for instance) Terrell Owens scores a touchdown, takes a Sharpie out of his
shoe and signs the ball, we think he's an ass.

(Before anyone gets on me for defending Owens, I also think he's an ass.
I know that I'm part of the problem - I want interesting athletes, but when
they're controversial, I get upset too.)
