Still sore that he took less money to stay with the Yanks than to play with
the Sox?

is a class act, no doubt. But he is only a shell of his former self. His
body is breaking down from all the years of playing 150-180 games per year
of pro ball. Bad arms, wheels etc.. He is back on the club's active roster
either because he has been pressured to be activated, by management, or
because of incentives in his contract, I am not sure which. In either
event, the guy is washed up as his current "slump" attests....6 for 58

Question, what was Jeter's average his first few weeks back? That should give
you the answer you need about Bernie.

He took like $20 less per year. It would have cost him more to move. Stop
acting like he did some noble ****ing thing. He played the Sox and to get
the contract offer up from the Yankees.

Thanks, I knew it wasn't much. I was surprised though that he didn't go
elsewhere. IIRC there was a nasty rumor going around (or at least I heard
it on FAN a lot) that his wife wanted them out of NYC because had
extra-ciricular activities going on with some NYC girl.

Because, as we all know, no good hitter ever goes into an extended
slump. It's unheard of in the annals of baseball.

Yep, the guy is in a slump... proof positive that he is washed up. Any GM
worth his salt knows that once a player hits a slump, they should get rid of
him pronto!
Or, proof that you don't have a clue.
