Frank Messer never played for the Yankees. He held the torch until the real
announcers came in.

It wasn't a list of players, it was a list of people associated with the
yankees and with baseball.

Frank Messer is one of the best baseball announcers I've ever heard,
and the Bill White/Frank Messer team is by far my favorite Yankees
broadcasting team since I started following the team in 1981.

Actually from 1971-1986 Bill White Phil Rizzuto and Frank Messer were the
Yankee broadcasters.

Yes, but Frank Messer always seemed to know what question to ask Bill White
about any given situation. That's what made those two such a great team.

He was a fun character, but he got too distracted from the action on
the field. I'll take him over Sterling any day, though.
