KH was an absolute stunner when she was young, in her 20's, and she
actually aged well till about her late 40's. She was a member of the
"Young and the Breastless" club as my wife used to say... but putting
that part of her anatomy aside, she was one of the best actresses and
real people you'd ever meet/see. She lived in Fenwick, CT which is
sort of a borough of Old Saybrook, CT right on the sound in a house
that was once (or maybe twice) just about destroyed by hurricanes.
Fenwick has a population of maybe 50-60 people with maybe 20 nice
multi-million-dollar summer homes, many of them around a neat little
golf course on the point. You could drive near to her house, but she
had a long private drive that wrapped around a little pond. The house
was very visible by boat. Her father built it before she was a star,
and she never gave it up. She frequented OS town meetings, arguing
for property tax relief on her home, and was a frequent shopper at the
local butcher shop and deli. I saw her once there, and that was maybe
15 years ago. Kerchief over her head, trenchcoat, and not looking for
any fan recognition, she'd respond to a "good morning" but not much
more.
