Unlike Alfredson who tells the press that the Sens will win it this year. I
wonder why class teams like Detroit, NJ, etc never made such idiotic
statements?

There's nothing idiotic about the statement. Several players on other teams
have stated as much. Sakic, Forsberg and Kariya did as well. What are they
supposed to say (Alfredsson included) ? "Ahem, yeah, I hope we get by the
Leafs/Wings/Wild/... this year. Anything after that is up to the hockey
gods."
BS. If you believe in your team, why not state the obvious ?

P.S. There are guys with and without class on every NHL team. The whole

They may have said, "Heck, we have a good chance...", but I haven't seen
anywhere, anytime any of them guarantee a cup victory.

Probably you didn't see the interview and are just spitting out what someone
else told you. He never said they would win it this year. He said if they
can keep the team together over the next couple years then they'd win a cup.

Also he said it at a time when the Sens were in a slump and the media and
fans were all over them for playing so poorly. He did what a good captain
would do and tried to calm everyone down.
