To all the Lalime bashers and complainers

<judeandchris@xspam.hotmail.com> first attempted to communicate with pen,
but the writing was small, so next used sidewalk chalk, but the rain washed
it away, and then switched to spray paint and stencils but the cans
exploded, so placed fingers to keyboard for this:
Why is it that you seem to think that anyone that complains about the play
of Ottawa, be it the defence, offence or goaltending, is "jumping off the
bandwagon?" Zone ... wake up and smell what you're trying to shovel, okay?
Not once have I said, nor anyone else (so far that I've read), that the Sens
****. What we have said is that their PLAY ****s when it DOES ****. We're
fans ... we have the right to complain and expect better. And Ottawa proved
last season that they can play better and can do much more than they've
shown. Yes, they are near the top of the NHL right now after a
disappointing start ... and yes a lot of things are turning around. But as
I continue to say, the play has to be consistent! For whatever reason, you
refuse to see this and want to live in some kind of stat-filled world where
the numbers speak the truth. Maybe you're an accountant, pension consultant
or something else that loves numbers ... I don't know. But the numbers mean
nothing to me when I see 5 goals go in that should have been stopped, or at
least 3 of them! The deflection, that one I give. And possibly even the
first goal since it was a real rocket. But the other goals were fundamental
mistakes ... not closing up small gaps between legs, arms, and body ... or
being too far away from the post to take away short-side goals.
I've always been critical of Patrick's play this season ... because last
season he was so far better than this. Yes, we lost games and I can't
expect nor do expect Ottawa to go 82-0, as per your other post. But I do
expect to see that Lalime keeps out the soft goals and handles the simple
things like position and closing up the holes. Deflections and laser shots
.... not much you can do about. I know that shit happens, even to the best
goalies. Patrick Roy and Martin Brodeur have had their really bad games and
I expect that that will continue to happen. But the best goalies bounce
back, not continue to struggle ... or run hot-n-cold from night to night and
watch their backup goalie come in and make an amazing record of 9-4-1 so far
this season. And if you look at Prusek's save percentages and averages ...
those are the things I would expect from a starter and not a backup ... to
use your own numbers.
Lalime has a lot to prove to me. 5 goals from Pittsburgh is 3 goals too
many. When he gets those numbers back down to less than 2 goals a game and
those goals are tough ones to stop for even the best goalies ... he'll have
earned my confidence and respect again. I would be no harder on him than I
would on my favourite players ... Spezza or Redden. If they were playing
like shit, I'd be all over their asses too. But one thing would never
change ... I'd always be an Ottawa Senators fan.
Try Prozac ... or maybe a vacation. Believe me ... they both work!
