Default thoughts on trade...?

Around the Horn made a good point that Jerry West doesn't make bad trades.

Personally, I think all this response to the fans negative feedback is going
to ruin our team. Do we care anymore to see Wesley Person in the lineup
over Bonzi Wells?

no

Are we a better team?

no

Will the draft pick help?

who knows

Why don't we just trade Wallace and Damon for conditional picks then see if
we can beat ****ing Duke. What a joke.

This was a trade to help clean up image, not improve our team.

Fans have no clue how to run a franchise and the Blazers have to stop
listening to all the hot heads who are pissed off over the negative
reporting. More so, if the franchise is content on parting with our
headcases, then they outta do something that'll make us better.

It appears there'll be limitations as to how much the franchise will
tolerate and that'll be based on performance, but the bottom line is, fans
have no ****ing clue how to run a franchise. Parting with Bonzi for Person
just made us a worse team. We keep trading good players who are headcases
for mediocrity and fans will be crying because we're perennial losers.
There's no pleasing fans.

If Bonzi plays good in Memphis (as is expected) and he has a whole new
attitude, then what? Do you say Hubie and West know how to control their
players and we're braindead? Do we blame Wallace as the cancer who's having
a domino effect on our players?

What's next? Trade Wallace for Darvin Ham?

****ing ridiculous.

Blazers are absolutely brain dead. If Nash wants to please fans by driving
our team to the cellar, he's going to have a lot to answer for within a
couple years. And Paul Allen is going to be ready to throw in the towel.

I have to say, I'm not disappointed in seeing Bonzi gone, but I thought we'd
get something for him, not some rabbit pellets. A conditional draft pick?
whoop dee doo.

Keep it up Blazers and we may as well relocate to the ACC. Bring on Duke.

if the blazers get rid of wallace then they are brain dead retards. I
think tradeing wells made sense because they already have a 2-gurad
named Derek Anderson.

You assume I forgot about him? The point is we didn't help ourselves, this
was a sluff off trade. garbage. bs.

you missed the whole point. Sheed, Damon, and Bonzi are the headcases.
Bonzi's gone for garbage. Sheed's probably next, most likely damon to
follow. what are we going to get for sheed, another barn burner like darvin
ham and a draft pick?

All I'm saying is, if the best John Nash can get for Bonzi is a draft pick
and Person, then they're desperate and we're in trouble.

Fans want our team to win games. We didn't improve with this trade and last
I checked, Derek Anderson was in Cheeks' doghouse, then put in IL, yet to
return. Is Person going to start till he comes back or is Woods in there
now? Who knows. Maybe we'll have some better chemistry when DA returns
because Person doesn't need a lot of minutes, but this didn't improve our
team. Wallace don't wanna be here and while you think it's dumb to trade
him, I think it's inevitable. He's probably X ing his calendar till he's
shipped off some other paltry bullshit.

Headcases I can endure. A shitty media I can ignore. A losing team is the
worst thing for a small-market franchise. We'll see if the chemistry is
better without Bonzi and we'll see what the future holds for damon and
wallace, but more importantly, we'll see what other bullshit Mr. Nash has up
his sleeve.

I remember a lot of people blaming whitsitt for our woe's, this is just the
beginning for Nash. We'll see what happens next.

Makes you wonder how comes Sacramento had such a great support through years
and years of losing teams?

Small-market franchise will have problems supporting losing teams if there
are other games in town - not the case in P-town - so I honestly do not
think this will be a big deal. People love the game and can see a lot of
good team even if their own team is not the greatest. I think that they are
on the right track, finally. It can just get better from here, even if they
will have an initial adjustment period.

Because they had not had a winning team?

When Webber got arrested in Sac he threatened to leave town and they dropped
the charges...

Sacramento had great support before the Webber teams - even when they were
losing a lot for many years.

toad <papatoad@mrstoad.com> scribbled:

what is one of the main problems with this team?

Too many players for too little positions.

No outside shots.

no role players who know and accept their role.

a team bunch of dumbasses who's trade value is grossly inflated by Blazer
fans, and deflated by said player.

we weren't going to get a better player for Bonzi than we did. We got an
ending contract, a potential lotto pick (tho even if it is, it'll be late
lotto) and one less inconsistant player who wasn't thought of highly by most in the organization.

or maybe Bonzi had ****ed himself over so much thats all he was worth. Who
else could we have gotten? Seriously, who out there was going to be offering us something good?

yah, and as much as winning 50 games is nice, the crap that they do, isn't
off-set by the # of wins. Had they been winning 55-64 games a year and
making the 2nd and 3rd round in the playoffs, I'm sure it wouldn't have been so bad.

how do you know we didn't? As much as I liked Bonzi Wells as a Blazer, he
really wasn't being used to his strengths as a Blazer, and he also seemed to
think he could just be the man, despite the fact he wasn't.

Having an outside shooter is always a bonus. We really don't have any who
can play regular minutes (yet).

probably McInnis is going to continue starting. I too am worried about the
lack of 2 guards now, with Person basically being the only real 2 guard who
has any experience in the league. Carroll might be able to play the 2 guard,
but thats expecting a lot out of a rookie. Woods is either on the trade
blocks, or he's not (depends on who you believe)..he can or cannot play the
Point, 2 guard, and SF (depends on who you believe) and has or has not a
problem with pot (depends on who you believe).

no one really knows if Rasheed wants to be here or not. I think right now,
his 17 million coming off the cap, either as the whole 17, or half (signing
a smaller contract) is much more important than trading him.

I think apathy is worse than that. The Blazers of the 80's really were never
contenders (1 really good season in all reality).

what else was Nash supposed to do? Keep Bonzi (who obviously didn't want to
be here) on the team in hopes that he'd get us a better player 2 months down
the line? what happens if Bonzi gets injured? or most teams stop being
interested because he keeps putting his foot in his mouth? Say he pouts
more, and causes Rasheed to pout more? Or he goes off on Cheeks again? Then
he'd barely be worth a 1st round pick. Why? His PR would be ruined.

then why are we hitting attendance lows when we're an above .500 team?

Sacto had likable and good players like mitch richmond.

i got my rant printed in the oregonian. lol. bring on duke :-D

Duh, because the fans do care about the character of the team, not about the
wins as you imply. The amazing thing about this Blazers team is that it
managed to alienate a lot of the fans despite the fact that it is the only
game in town and a winning team - so keeping Bonzi for a "better" deal is
not a good idea.

You see the facts yourself, and yet you argue against them. Wierd.

I can buy that.

Wesley's been busted for pot himself, but did you see what the lil headline
in the oregonian said? Something about family man comes to portland.

good lord.

hey, Bonzi was talked of going to the Nets along with Sheed for Kenyon and
Mutombo in the offseason. Dikembe's doin purty good for the knicks.
kenyon's an animal. not sure kenyon woulda helped our chemistry as we'd
have 2 banner PFs, but we coulda had a great front-court with zach, ****,
and kenyon. we heard rumors of finley and jamison.

now lets just say those rumors were all bunk. at least somebody was
considering the playing value of Sheed and Bonzi, and those trades were
accurate given the talent level and contracts.

Bottom line is, portland didn't like bonzi flipping off fans and they put
their foot down as fast as they could. I'd heard some other rumblings about
Bonzi going to other teams and those offers were rejected, so yea, maybe
that last outburst for bonzi killed him, but there are many guys who've done
worse. Point is, Portland shoulda rode out the storm, maybe even
restructured a contract with a "no **** you's or we'll **** you" clause.
Whatever. I just think it was a dumb trade. I know we coulda got more.
Jerry West is a smart man and he just got a far superior player and my guess
is, between him and Hubie, they'll be able to coach him better. we'll see
though.

Portland appears to be getting sick of playing babysitter and doesn't know
any alternatives to shaping up image than shipping them off. Sluff off the
problems is our new motto.

If this works chemistry wise, that's fine, but the way I see it, we can
never do anything right. If we were the lakers, in preseason we woulda
been complaining that we had no bench or solid role players. When portland
had a solid bench, we had too much talent.

it's all bullshit. We're not going to get any better or contend until we
get someone of Duncan, Ming, or Shaq's caliber playing in the paint. Even
the Kings added Brad Miller.

So why is adelman able to coach so many guys in sacto like bibby, bobby jax,
peja, soon-returning webber, along with divac and brad miller?

Seems to me the problems in portland aren't just "too much" talent or "not
enough role players".

I've never been a huge bonzi supporter, I just expected more in return. I
was hoping to put him in a package deal for a big man somewhere. Going back
to Detroit for Okur in some package woulda been nice. Maybe Sheed and Bonzi
for Wallace and Billups or something woulda been cool. who knows. this
trade's a joke. yea, we'll see.
