Default All eligible South Africans should be considered

Alwin Wiederhold a écrit :

There are also several good South Africans in the french championship.
Recently, Brian Liebenberg has been selected to play for France during
the World Cup. He is considered as one of the best center in the french
championship and was a major contributor to the Paris Stande Français'
win over Toulouse during the french championship Final.
Boks also forgot Pieter De Villier several years ago, who used to be
considered as one of the best prop in international rugby.
I also think that Selborne Boome was at his top when playing for
Montferrand, but was not selected at that time...

Aust and SA have both lost heavily to NZ in recent times but I think that
has been more because NZ's style of play has come off spectacularly rather
than there being too much wrong with the playing personnel of the other
sides. England managed to contain NZ's style and what the Boks and Aussies
need to do now is find a way to follow suit.

For a start, my advice would be: Don't kick the ball to them. That's when
they're at their most dangerous, it gives them lots of room to set up
things. If you must kick, kick it out, even if you don't go for as much
distace as normal. Then you have the chance to challenge NZ's shoddy lineout
instead of having to chase after lightning quick backs who have been
presented with acres of space.

Look at last night's tape and see the difference in results when Larkham, in
particular, ran the ball back instead of kicking it. The Aussies were able
to retain possession and put NZ under tremendous pressure, while all that
those threatening NZ backs could do was tackle, go back a few metres,
tackle, go back a few metres. They don't look such a threat doing that.

My view is that while NZ's strike power and style is exciting to watch and I
guess from the opposition's point of view even rather intimidating, they
won't achieve nearly as much if you don't keep giving the ball to them.
Dominate possession, pressure Marshall, pressure Spencer, cut out those
aimless kicks, then let's see what happens. But you need to make the changes
in your game plan, not your personnel.

I'm sure your sides will work the ABs out sooner or later but, as a Kiwi,
I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts.

Actually I beg to differ... the Australians looked like they were only
recycling and apart from Rogers, hardly threatened to break the All Black
defence. I can still recall Finnegan receiving the ball 10 or so metres from
the goal line and being stopped dead in his tracks by Collins.

Umaga's defence and spot tackling was amazing, stopping the Australians
behind the advantage line on several occasions.

Lo.
