this is a classic "no-win" game for the kings:

kings blow out lakers: "what else did you expect? the lakers are without
their *3* best players."

kings barely beat lakers: "wow, sac just squeaks by a depleted lakers squad?
they're toast."

lakers barely beat kings: "there's no hope for a team that can't beat its
weakened rival *at home*."

lakers blow out kings: the ultimate humiliation.
