"I have a strange feeling of disappointment," Ginobili said Friday

played really well, but we didn't get the win."

"They're maybe the most talented team I've ever seen in my life,"
Popovich said of the Lakers. "So, if you can hang in there it has to
build a little confidence. But it doesn't mean you're going to play
that way all the time. All those shots may not fall for us the next
time — and some things did go our way — but the
recognition on defense and the team defense and the trust they had
with each other was really something to watch."

"That's Manu," Bruce Bowen said. "He's not going to let anybody
intimidate him."

At the beginning of the first overtime, Payton started jawing at
Ginobili. When Ginobili continued to stare straight ahead, Payton
walked closer, unleashing a steady torrent of expletives in his
target's face. Ginobili smiled, then answered back.

"It was funny, so I had to reply," Ginobili said. "That was a big step
for me. I was telling some guys I felt very important."

Said Bowen, "Manu's (vocabulary) was much more G-rated than Gary's."

"He was talking a bunch of nonsense," Payton said. "I don't even know
what he was saying 'cause I wasn't paying much attention. But if you
talk to me, you are going to get it back at you.

"Basketball is just that — basketball. If you are getting a lot
of looks and you have the hot hand, you can put up 30-something. Guys
like (Michael) Jordan can put up 50 on you. Thirty is nothing."
