Default Kidd Trade??

Kidd to SA for Mercer, Parker and Horry.

What does everyone think of this? I can't tell if it's misplaced loyalty or
not, but I don't want to see Parker or Horry go anywhere. I understand this
is just a rumour started by a journalist, but still..... I'm not sure if
there is any truth to this rumour at all, but what do you all think?

As a Wolves "fan", I hope the trade is *not* made - I think it would spell
"Spurs Championship" for a couple more years. And I like Parker a lot.

As to Horry, I've been a "Horry Hater" since before he joined the Lakers
and if he was out East, without superior players around him, he'd disappear.
I think of him as pretty soft on defense and a streaky jump shooter on offense,
a one trick pony who doen't adjust his game if his shot isn't falling.
He's been meshing well with the Spurs from what little I see tho (except
that night
against the Wolves where he went 2-8), a good "sixth man" for the Spurs.

I would take it in a heartbeat. I would hate to see Parker go because I
think he really has the potential to be one of the best PGs in the
league for quite a while, but Kidd is one of the few I would part with
Parker to get. Although it would be harder to do so in the middle of
the season, Kidd could also help fill DRob's leadership void that needs
filled very badly. Duncan's getting better this season about that, but
his lack of emotion is such an asset to his individual game that I would
rather see someone else getting on the rest of the team, making them
push harder. Kidd would make the other 3 people on the floor that
aren't the best in the league at their position that much better.. I
don't think the Nets have reached the point where they're ready to
rebuild (which I think this would entail), but it's okay for a Spurs fan
to dream.

Maybe Golden State would give us Avery back for Jason Hart, that might
help out in the leadership department. Trade or no trade we definitely
need a jolt to make a go of it this year.

Well this is one of the goofiest scenarios to be mentioned this season. I
don't think the salaries even come close to working out. Even if they did,
why would New Jersey make his deal? They get absolutely no value in return
except maybe some cap relief if one or more of the ex-Spurs' is in, or near,
the last year of his contract. IMHO, in order to make this deal New Jersey
would have to be willing to blow up their team and get nothing in return.
Now throw in a couple of No. 1's and maybe they wouldn't hang up on Pop.

As a Lakers fan though, I'd love to see Kidd with the Spurs. Parker is the
guy who has given us trouble. Kidd is not quick and we match up much better
against him than Parker.

I think that would be a good trade. As a 15 year Spurs fan I can see they
are not going very far
this year in the playoffs, especially with the Timberwolves improvements
this year. Mercer and Horry
are first year players with the Spurs and although they are good role
players I think Timmy really needs
some help. If the Lakers ever get their act together and the Wolves keep
pounding away I see a fast
playoff exit for the Spurs. Maybe we can pull off a trade close to the
all-star game.

Right after Kidd ousts Scott and the Nets might move to Brooklyn (and
need a star player for marketing)? No way. Even without those
cir***stances, I can't see why the Nets would give up Kidd for a
never-has-been, a so-so, and a has-been.

Kidd is a base year player. He makes about $13.2 million,
but the Nets can only take back about $6.6 million for him.
Mercer, Parker & Horry make $12.1 million combined.

This is a no-brainer, but the Nets would not, and should not, go for
this. I like Parker, think he has a fine future ahead of him, but
just think Kidd is much better.
