Default parking pain at Petco?

I predict that there will be much grief in the months
ahead over "on-street" parking spaces in the Downtown
area being taken by Padre fans, making it difficult
for others to find parking.

Logically, it makes NO sense for people to try saving
a few dollars by parking on the street and then walk-
ing several blocks to Petco.

But I've seen it for years near the Sports Arena...
people will park blocks away from that and walk to
the old gray building. The impact is not as great
there (because the crowds are in the 5,000 class).

But Petco should be drawing 30,000+ (at least the
first few months). I don't know if the Padres are
continuing the Thursday day games, but if they are,
those will be the ultimate meltdowns.

Your thoughts?

Living just 5 minutes from Qualcomm, I'm planning on heading down to the
parking lot, tailgate, catch the trolley to Petco, then catch it back to
Qualcomm. You're right. Parking is going to be messy and expensive.

There ain't shit down there anyway, so whose gonna be negatively impacted by
it? It's gonna be a boom for the local homeowners, though, who'll rent out
their driveways to make a quick $15 to $20...I've been taking the trolley to
the games for years, so I don't really give a rats ass what the
traffic/parking is like anyway ;-)

They ain't gonna have no mo' Thursday games...Take that back, I think
there's one...

They should set up parking at the Q. $10 includes express trolley for
two (regular price for more) to the Doghouse!

Out of curiosity: Is there any way to have an "Express Trolley?" It's not
like there are other tracks, aren't you going to run into the trolleys in front
of you sooner or later, and have to wait for them?

I don't really ride the thing, but the idea doesn't seem logical to me.

I don't think it'll work here, but if the trolley system had been
designed to have Express lines, it could work. Each station could
have "bypass tracks"; express trolleys could switch off to the bypass
tracks to bypass the station, while the other trolleys would still
stop at each stop. It'd take some coordination to keep trolleys from
running into each other, of course.

I have been told No weekday day games. The Pads have 1 more additional lot
available for just this year. Some property that was scheduled for
development is behind schedule and will be used as a parking lot.

By the way I have had the full tour of the Ballpark and it is wonderful.
Going to the games should be a great experience. Assuming they win.

Why not? You save a few (and will be just a "few") bucks, and you even get some exercise!

Done it many a time. I guess that makes me illogical. :-)

The impact is not as great

Take the trolley.

Yes, and rumor has it they will try to have more in future years, once
people figure out that you don't have to drive (or at least don't
have to drive all the way downtown) to get to the games.

In other words, if we all do our part to limit the congestion down
there, the downtown residents and businesses will realize it's not so
bad, and it will be politically more feasible to have more day games.
