Brooks' attitude is a known quantity, idiot. Montana's record speaks
for itself. Were we trust your less than keen insight, we would have
to believe that Quincy Carter would be a better teacher for Brooks.

If Brooks looks to shut up and listen, he's definitely gonna learn from one
of the masters. Whether or not Montana is a good teacher, is unknown. Lots
of good performers are poor teachers. I don't think Young necessarily
learned much from him directly. I think Young learned more from watching
and just being a smart guy. Brooks has the talent to become a great player.
We'll see, I guess, if he has the attitude.

The stories about older active players grooming younger ones
never made much sense to me. These are ultra-competitive
athletes fighting for the same starting job. It's kind of
heart-warming to think Montana taught Young or Young taught
Garcia, but there's no real reason for a starting QB to help
out a guy who's trying to take his job away.

Yertle, I agree. Everybody's going to teach or show a protege (or nemesis)
some tricks and strategies, mostly to display their knowledge. In a pro
football situation, they're right out there for evaluation.

In my job, one of my job qualifications is to train my replacement. In the
"real" world, that's what 's required, in a successful business.If I train a
good enough replacement, will I be replaced? Probably not, if I'm
performing.

Montana never had an attitude problem.
You can be the greatest coach in the world but if the player
has an attitude i.e. Jeff George, forget it.

He has the attitude alright, but oft times it's aimed in the wrong
direction.
What you said about Montana being a good teacher is also true. Even the
best
of them might not be the best of teachers, but Joe does have a keen eye
for
detail and he can pick apart Brooks' mechanics and thinking for him.

I meant that if Joe had talent but an attitude like George Walsh could not
couch him and expect success.
