Default OT (ish) - How is it Millen's fault nobody else interviewed?

No African-American candidates were willing to accept the interview. How is
that the fault of Millen or the Lions? I mean he contacted 3 - 5 viable
interview candidates and THEY assumed the job was Mooch's. So because a
bunch of assistant coaches decided that they had no shot they turned down an
interview. And that's the fault of the Lions and / or Matt Millen. That
doesn't wash for me.

This is just another politcal correctness crock of crap. You can not force
candidates to accept interviews. It is not anyone's fault that there was a
clear cut front runner. Yet Dallas gets away with Jerry and Dennis having a
phone conversation. I'd laugh at all this if not for the fact that the
league was serious enough to impose a 200k$ fine. This is such a PC handjob
its not even funny.

This is something that he should fight! Go to court, and win.

Jerry Jones and Denny Green have been friends for years and have
worked together a lot on league committees. Maybe the league's pissed
off that Millen interviewed Mariucci first and pissed off the
available minority candidates. At any rate, you're dead on the mark.
It's not Millen's fault that minority candidates that he contacted
weren't interested because they felt that they were going to be giving
token consideration. This move has "appea*****t" written all over it.

I'd laugh at all this if not for the fact that the

I accept that Spike, but my question still remains because Parcells was
every bit the lock in Dallas that Mooch was in Detroit. Millen called a lot
of candidates. Since they refused to go further than the phone call
shouldn't those be given at least some weight given that Jerry's entire
interview with Denny was one phone call? I mean that was the point I was attempting to make.

Yes yes. Appea*****t is the right word. It ****s. How dare they. What
about the unequal number of African American players in the league (apprx
60%)? Can some clever white attorney sue the NFL or NBA for having an over
representative number of African-americans on their teams? I mean why
should talent matter, we should just make sure everything falls perfectly
into the PC rose colored view of racial representation.

I mean is this REALLY what the country is being reduced to in terms of race
relations? If so, this is a monumental though pathetic testimony to the
nation's stupidity.

Sure but the difference is that for the Cowboys, Green interviewed
anyway so he must have felt that there was at least a chance and there
probably was. No guarantee that Parcells would want to coach again,
after all. Green declined to interview with the Lions for whatever
reason.
