Default Desperate for a starter yet?

As good as a 7 game lead can seem, I am worried about the DBax starters and
the Giants starters.

For the next 10 games or so the Giants rotation is likely to be:

Moss, Foppert, Williams, Brower, and Powell?

While the DBax have

Batista and Webb both with ERA in the top 10 in the league and the Unit and
Schilling back.

I will be happy if the Giants have a 5 game lead come August 1.

Not Powell, he's gone.

I'm not really worried about Bautista or Webb. Schilling and Johnson
have my attention.

Powell was already sent down. If Rueter isn't ready I am guessing Zerbe.

You are the opposite me... I am concerned more about Webb than Johnson and
indifferent between Schilling and Bautista. As good as Williams has been
for SF this year, Webb has been a lot better for the DBax.

Rueter is scheduled to start Friday against the Padres. He is throwing full
bullpen sessions and feels fine.

To Honus Wagner re.....

I don't think that is the rotation over the next 10 games. For one
thing, I believe Powell is already back in Raisin City, though I've not
looked at the Transactions recently to be certain. Also, I wouldn't be
so quick to write off both Schmidt and Rueter until we learn more on
their status. From what I've heard since Saturday, I think Schmidt is
OK.

As will I. Just because we swept the Rockheads doesn't mean we will
automatically win every game from here on out and the lead will just
keep going up and up. We'll still have some bad spells and sometimes the
lead will go down. Nothing wrong with leading by five (if we are leading
by that much) on August 1st.

Put it this way, Hans: Would you rather have OUR situation or the
Snakeskins' situation?

I wouldn't be surprised if Webb's pitching starts to decline as the season
wears on. It seems to me that rookies start to, a) get fatigued, or b) get
figured out, late in the season. Of course I could be COMPLETELY wrong.

reuter is scheduled for the 25th. and so far if you remove williams first
start, when they changed catchers on him, his era has been quite phenomenal.
Schmidt may skip his regular starting day, but he may not miss an entire
turn thru the rotation, although this is yet to be seen. Otherwise this
ragtag bunch of guys has managed to have a record comparable with the N.Y.
160 million dollar Yankees.

Are you sure Webb has been "a lot" better than Jerome, Honus? I find
that hard to believe. Two SO games against the A's and two SO games
against the Cards. And he's 5-0 in his last 5 games.
