Although no one on this group will accuse me of putting much stock into
preseason games, all I can say is this:

Wow, Springs got totally roasted... again... and again. On the first TD he
gave up, he didn't even turn around. He got smoked so bad he just jumped up
and started waving his arms. On the second TD he gave up, he wasn't even in
the neighborhood.

He looked like a rookie out there. I've been a bit sour on Springs after
three years of hamstring injuries. He got toasted on numerous occasions last
year and seems like it won't be any different for the rest of his career. In
the beginning, before his three years of hammie problems, he looked like the
second coming of Deion Sanders. Now he's using his veteran skills to mask
the fact that, physically, he's just an average starting NFL cornerback now.

What a shame. He had so much potential but is now (to me) just another
journeyman CB. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Hasta,
Curtis

Wonder if the Lions would give us a 1st rounder for him? or even The Rams?

The first TD was just plain embarassing. He looked ridiculous (and if he'd
turned, he would have been in perfect position to knock the ball down). The
second TD, he dived for it and missed. What's disturbing is how he missed -
on the reply, you could see that he was simply too far away. Even though he
dived, he never had a chance to even touch the ball.

I hate to say it, but, yeah.

I can't stand to watch him much longer... Springs illigally grab everyone
in sight, and wants to get away with it, just because he's Shawn Springs.

NFL refrees should quit giving him the benefit of the doubt, and penalty him
for it.

I'm sick of star players getting special treatments, which springs is
obviously trying to exploit.

Sounds a lot like what happens to Willie (toast) Williams so often.

'cept it doesn't happen to Williams nearly as much as people
think it does.

True. I've been a WW critic much of the time, but the reality is that I
don't think there's anyone in the NFL who can consistantly stop most teams
#1 receiver without help and a good pass rush. The Seahawks problem much of
the time is blown coverage on top of a DB being beaten. I'm hoping Rhodes
will alleviate a lot of what we've seen the past few years in that
department. We've not just been a poor defense, but one that makes too many
boneheaded plays as well.

I can't figure why people like to give Williams such a hard time. Here is a
guy who has to work twice as hard because he was not blessed with the
physical attributes most of his peers have and yet he has managed to play
eleven very successful years. He gets my vote of confidence just for his
moxy alone! ;-)

I'm sure you've felt the same frustration as me as when we give opposing
QB's literally 2-3 seconds more than we give Hass. Inevitably by the time we
start to get any pressure on the opposing QB no matter how poor or
inexperienced, they are able to find a receiver running free through our
defensive backfield. You're right, time is of the essence and we need to
allow opposing QB's far less.
