Default Not OT: A Dream come true

I usually get one of the package ticket deals, well, didn't get one last
year.

I just received a phone call from the sonics asking me to purchase a package
ticket.

Believe me, it was so much fun saying "I'm upset about the Gary Payton thing
and will not be purchasing any tickets."

I may cherish that moment for a life time.

I wonder if anybody else is saying it to them.

Only morons. You think you are hurting the Sonics for dealing Gary? Well
good for you. Stay away when they rise back to contention in the west then.
Who needs you? The Sonics made a smart trade. They dealt the most
tradeable commodity and so far look like they really fleeced the Bucks. You
won't be at any Sonics games next year? Good. Should make the crowd a
little wiser.

I am not so much upset at them dealing Gary. They lied about it from the
get go. That is what I am protesting.

From what I've seen this summer, the "offer sheets being extended to
Drobnjak and Evans", and then a month later saying they never wanted them
back, I believe that following basketball in Seattle has changed
irrevocably. If it's Monday the sonics PR people are going to say thus and
thus, however, if it is Friday, it will be thus and thus.

Lied about what exactly? That they were not going to trade him? Please
let me know other alternatives that GP and the Goodwin's had available for
the Sonics that would make sense from a team-perspective, not a PR one.

Well, just because the Sonics say they want players X and Y doesn't mean
they're going to be able to sign them. They are financially restricted
(due to both the salary cap, and bad contracts), and can't simply go after
whomever they wish, also, WRT Drobnjak, he's an unrestricted free-agent,
so he could sign for whomever he wanted, regardless of the Sonics offer.

That being said, I'm not shedding any tears at Drobnjak's departure (the
rumors seem to indicate the Nuggets as a strong possibility). If you want
an Drobnjak endor*****t, look to Barker and Craven, you're not going to
get one here.

I will be mad if they don't re-sign Evans, because they should be able to
get him on the cheap (if some other team overpays for him, oh well, but I
don't anticipate that happening).

Their intentions about trading GP and for what. If, when Schultz said,
"GP's conduct is 'unhealthy'" they would have said, "and we intend to go
into full rebuild and trade payton as soon as something financially feasible
shows up", instead of starting a fight in public with GP so they "had no
alternative", I would have been disappointed, but not so angry at what I
perceive as lies.

That they were not going to trade him? Please

And you are right, they had no alternative. You blame GP for lying, and I blame Schultz for lying.

But why didn't they say the truth: "we wanted them, but so far they both
have refused to sign the offer sheets so we are going elsewhere" instead of
"we never wanted them in the first place."

I didn't watch the sonics after the All-star break, so any comment I might
make on any player seems to me to be a little silly.

see above, he looked o.k. the first of the season.

The most recent lie, (sorry I didn't mean to ignore your question or use
doubletalk) was the public fight with GP, wherein GP said he said he'd give
me a contract extension before the start of the season, and Schultz said he
never said it. GP says he has witnesses and Schultz simply says GP lied.
With all of Schultz's "this is unhealthy talk", I find the fact that under
his "stewardship" (The sonics are a public trust, I think he said once) the
front office routinely tells different stories to the press reprehensible
and proof that GP told the truth.

They could be like everybody else and say "no comment".
