36 - 0 No Warner
Jeff: I don't have a real problem with your statement that Bulger should
be the starting
quarterback at this point in the season, but only because I know that
Martz is the coach and has the authority to play whomever he wants to
play for whatever reason he thinks sufficient, but (and a BIG "but"
here!) how do you know that Warner does NOT have the "hot hand" now?
Remember, Warner had almost NO help from the blocking scheme in the only
game in which he has played this year, a game in which the former
Marshall Faulk picked up only 10 yards in his first 8 carries and only
28 yards in 9 carries in the entire game! This also was the game in
which the new O-line gave in to Strahan and Company like the girls at
The Mustang Ranch gave in to the paying customers, especially in the
first half! Kurt has been saddled with a game plan which fostered
resentment of Bruce and Holt because Faulk had been getting as many
receptions as they had been, so now they prefer Bulger because Martz
lets Bulger play with some protection, with a running game and with a
game plan which lets the runners run the ball and lets the receivers
catch the ball! I maintain that if Warner were permitted to play now,
with the same conditions that Bulger enjoys, his performance would
approach or exceed his previous MVP standards! No one can honestly say
that Kurt was "beaten out" of his job; he was "replaced" by a coach who
had the authority to make that decision. Martz is not likely to let Kurt
play with the same advantages that Bulger now enjoys because it would be
obvious that Kurt was benched for something other than
performance-related issues.
