Shannon Stewart and a player to be named later for Bobby Kielty.

Wow – they gave up Kielty for Stewart? Very interesting.
Keilty: 238 at-bats, .252/.370/.420
Stewart: 303 at-bats, .294/.347/.449
Stewart is 29 years old; Kielty is 26 (going to be 27 on August 5th).
To me, this is not a trade the Twins should be making – they have enough
outfielders. What they need is a middle infielder that can hit, and MOST
importantly, a starting pitcher. I don’t know why they would bother
trading one outfielder for another – especially while getting 2 1/2 years
older with a player that may not be as good as the player you traded
Unless of course the prospect going with Stewart is someone significant

Excellent trade by Ricciardi. Dump the salary of a one-dimensional player
for a younger player who can man at least two if not all three outfield
positions competently. Kielty was one of the few Twins who hit the Yankees
last few years. I’m surprised the Yanks didn’t try to pry the guy loose.
I’d rather they give up prospects for Kielty than Juan Gonzalez or (ugghhh)
